This implementation strategy for the Clean Nigeria Campaign serves as our blueprint for achieving an ODF Nigeria by 2030. Drawing from lessons learned from successful approaches and challenges encountered in the implementation of the campaign, this strategy outlines clear goals, innovative approaches, and actionable steps to end open defecation and accelerate access to sanitation and hygiene across all states. It is built on the foundation of collaboration, with a focus on government leadership, private sector partnerships, and grassroots engagement. It is a testament to our resolve to create inclusive solutions that address urban, rural, and underserved communities.

Panel Discussion: Enabling_Environment_Private_Sector_Sanitation

A high-level panel discussion designed to explore the synergies between the public and private sectors in creating a conducive environment for sanitation investments. The session will bring together key stakeholders, including government representatives, private sector leaders, policy experts, and international development partners, to discuss the current barriers, opportunities, and successful strategies for fostering private sector engagement in the sanitation economy. The panel will identify actionable strategies to create a more supportive and dynamic ecosystem for sanitation-related investments and highlight successful collaborations in other sectors, the policies and frameworks that enabled these partnerships, and how these approaches can be adapted to encourage more significant investments in sanitation. The session aims to provide actionable insights and recommendations for both policymakers and business leaders.

Private Sector Engagement Frameworks - Private Sector Consultation

An interactive and dynamic session that explores specific investment pathways for private sector engagement in the sanitation economy. The session will use one of three collaborative formats—World Café, Carousel, or Rotating Roundtables—to facilitate in-depth discussions, knowledge sharing, and actionable insights. Participants will move between themed tables or stations, each focusing on a different investment pathway: Core Business and Assets, Financing, Advocacy and Communications, and Sustainable Business Practices. The session will also address barriers and challenges, the financial and non-financial benefits of investments, and share success case studies. The objective of this session is to enhance participants' understanding of the diverse opportunities and modalities for financial sector engagement in ending open defecation, showcase practical examples of ways the financial sector have contributed and generate excitement / interest among participants to contribute . Through collaborative discussions and knowledge exchange, participants will identify key opportunities for investment, partnership, and innovation in the sanitation sector, fostering actionable insights and strategies.

Nigeria Roadmap to Hand Hygiene for All 2021 to 2025

The Federal Ministry of Water Resources, in its characteristic habit of adopting global good practices to improve the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) status of Nigeria, collaborated with UNICEF and other Development Partners to develop the Nigeria Roadmap to Hand Hygiene for All (HH4A). The Nigeria HH4A Roadmap recognizes the necessity of three core factors namely: political leadership, a strong enabling environment, and increased supply and demand for hand hygiene through inclusive programming at scale.

NATIONAL ACTION PLAN FOR THE REVITALISATION OF THE WASH SECTOR

The goal of the Revitalization Strategy is to ensure that all Nigerians have access to sustainable and safely-managed WASH services by 2030, in compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for Water (Goal 6.1) and Sanitation (Goal 6.2). These guidelines are about implementation of hygiene promotion (HP) in Public Health Care (PHC) facilities and at other public places (rural markets, weekly markets and Inter-state taxi/transport stands) in Nigeria.

Guidelines for HYGIENE PROMOTION “IN AND THROUGH” SCHOOLS in Nigeria

These guidelines are an offshoot of “National Hygiene Promotion Strategy” framework in Nigeria, which recognises the child as an 'agent of change' and emphasises high visibility of hygiene promotion activities in schools and communities. These Guidelines are about implementation of hygiene promotion activities “in and through” Schools in Nigeria.

2022 World Toilet Summit, Abuja

The stakeholders of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Sector gathered for the 2022 World Toilet Summit and World Toilet Day held in Abuja, Nigeria on 18th and 19th of November, 2022 respectively. The event was hosted by the Government of Nigeria in collaboration with the World Toilet Organization (WTO) and the Organized Private Sector in WASH (OPSWASH) with over 400 participants from 14 countries spanning the global South and North.

National Hygiene Promotion Strategy Nigeria

This document presents the national strategy for the promotion of sanitation and hygienic behavior among individuals, households, communities, schools and markets. Through this hygiene promotion strategy and implementation of the related guidelines: Guidelines for Hygiene Promotion in Communities and Guidelines for Hygiene Promotion In and Through Schools, it is expected that exposure of the population to public health risks would be significantly reduced.

Water Sanitation and Hygiene National Outcome Routine Mapping 2021

The Federal Ministry of Water Resources (FMWR) and National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), with the support of UNICEF and partners, have implemented the third round of WASH National Outcome Routine Mapping (WASHNORM). This third edition of the survey tagged WASHNORM 2021 follows the tradition of the previous surveys - NORM 2018 and NORM 2019. It applies sound statistical principles to collect and analyze WASH data at the national and sub-national levels. The survey x-rayed the sector, highlighting the situation of WASH services in Nigeria, the trends, challenges, and opportunities for growth. It is a testament to the commitment of the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and the state water agencies to improve access to WASH services and achieve SDG 6 by 2030.

YouthWash programme Strategic Framework

This 2023-2028 National YouthWASH Strategic Framework represents the response of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources to the clarion call by the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) mandating its member states to domesticate the AMCOW Policy and Strategy for Mainstreaming Youth in the Water and Sanitation Sector in Africa. The document also aligns with the Ministry's Road Map for ensuring that the country becomes Open Defecation Free by 2025

National Roadmap: Making Nigeria Open Defecation-Free by 2025
