The Honourable Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Hon. Muhammad Bello Goronyo Esq., has stated that the Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation will Collaborate with the Kwara State Government to end Open defecation in the State.
He commended Kwara State's efforts in this initiative and praised the State government's commitment to provide its counterpart fund as a sign of dedication
to partnering with the Ministry in reaching the goal of eradicating open defecation.
He further pointed out that Jigawa State currently holds the distinction of being the only state in the country so far declared Open Defecation-Free, and reiterated that there is much work to be done despite the demographic challenges facing the Nation.
He informed that Kwara State' proactive involvement in this campaign is a promising indication that significant progress will be achieved in addressing this issue.
Hon. Goronyo stressed the Ministry's commitment to partner with the Kwara State Government and encouraged other states to emulate this collaborative effort, adding that Kwara State's dedication is in line with the renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
In his remarks, the Kwara State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, expressed the commitment of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to ensure access to water and sanitation for the people of Kwara.
He remarked that Governor AbdulRazaq is passionate about achieving an Open Defecation-Free state and has committed an additional sum of 200 million Naira as counterpart funding to provide the necessary facilities and resources.
He added that this investment is aimed at enabling the residents of Kwara State to access clean water and Sanitation Services in alignment with the agenda to reduce Open Defecation in the state.
